Cambodian king Sihamoni visited Shaanxi Famen Temple

According to the Temple Famen on August 5, in the morning of August 4, the Ven. Master Xuecheng, with monks of the Famen Temple, held a welcoming ceremony for King Sihamoni at the gate to the monastery. In the course, The Ven. Master Xuecheng first led King Sihamoni to burn incense, present flowers and pay respect for Buddha in the main hall. King Sihamoni gave the Famen Temple a Buddha Dordenma statue as a present.

The Ven. Master Xuecheng extended welcome to King Sihamoni upon his visit to the Temple Famen. He said, China and Cambodia enjoy deep connections and there is profound friendship between the people of the two countries. After reviewing the friendly exchanges between the king-father Norodom Sihanouk and Chinese Buddhists, the Ven. Master Xuecheng hoped that King Sihamoni’s visit to the Famen Temple marked as a reunion of old friends and the delegation of King Sihamoni would have a good impression and memories during their stay in Shaanxi.

Norodom Sihamoni believed that this visit would certainly strengthen exchanges between the two countries and promote the friendship between both peoples. He was deeply moved after hearing his father’s deep feeling towards Chinese Buddhism and his effort in promoting Buddhism in 1950s, and hoped that the exchanges and cooperation of Buddhism would become more close between two countries.

The Ven. Master Xuecheng, on behalf of the Temple Famen, presented King Sihamoni a statue of Chinese figure of Buddha sakyamuni Buddha, and both sides exchanged presents afterwards.
